Residents of a lodging house heard a woman sobbing behind a disused bedroom door. The landlord unlocked it in their presence and found the room empty, dusty and undisturbed. The crying returned the following night, apparently from inside the same room. No tenant ever admitted knowing who the voice belonged to.
