The Room with No Shadow

A travelling photographer captured a room full of furniture, but nothing in the image cast a shadow.

A photographer brought Cryer a glass plate taken inside an abandoned house.

The windows were visible.

The furniture was visible.

The man who had stood in the doorway was visible.

But nothing cast a shadow.

The photographer returned with Cryer at noon.

The room behaved normally.

Cryer requested another exposure.

The second plate showed ordinary shadows.

The first plate was locked in the station evidence room.

By morning, the image was blank.

Only the outline of a doorway remained.
